A breakout season could be in store for Vikings second-year wideout Cordarrelle Patterson. The guy who's forecasting it ought to know, since he sees him up close in practices.
"Once I saw him make a couple plays, I'm like, 'We've got to get him the ball,'" said Greg Jennings. "He does too much well for us not to get him the ball."
The Vikings are expected to start Matt Cassel at quarterback, and that should benefit Patterson. He's a better downfield passer than Christian Ponder. Aside from Jennings and tight end Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota has no other noteworthy receivers, so Patterson should see plenty of targets.
It all looks good for him to be one of the breakout young wideouts this season, and a nice choice for those willing to take a risk on a thin resume but a lot of upside potential.
