We're heading into the fourth round in the experts rookie draft I'm participating in. I say rookie, but unrostered veterans are also fair game, so I spent a late third on new Cleveland wideout Andrew Hawkins, who might reasonably be their best receiver this year. For the most part, though, it's rookies.
My team is thin at running back after DeMarco Murray, which factored into my loading up on rookie runners -- Hyde, Mason and Andre Williams. I might very well select another rookie running back with my final pick. If a couple of those guys hit, my team should be in good shape at the position for years.
At wide receiver, I hoped to get both Marqise Lee and Donte Moncrief, but Moncrief went two picks before I would have selected him, so I settled for Williams. When I took Hawkins, I wasn't too thrilled with the rookie receivers left to me, Jarvis Landry or Martavis Bryant, but I did consider Landry. In retrospect, he would have been the better dynasty choice, but I uncharacteristically opted for the safer weekly starter than the higher upside unknown.
I did consider a quarterback, but with Philip Rivers and Cam Newton on my roster already, I felt pretty secure there in the short- and long-term.
