Week 5 Super League

I would be killing this league if I were better about getting my lineup in. Said I'd use Julio Jones a couple of weeks ago, failed to submit before the Thursday game. Vowed to use Steve Smith against the Panthers last week, failed to get my lineup in before the 1 p.m. games kicked off. Luckily was able to build a competitive lineup using just late and Monday games.

In any case, my 142-point week has left me still around the middle of the pack. If I could just add in the points from Julio and Smith Sr., I'd be doing a lot better. But if ifs and buts were candied nuts we'd be all be confused on Halloween. Here are the details, followed by my lineup.

The rules are simple. Pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs each week. Highest point total from that starting lineup wins the week.

You can sign up to play at http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2014/FantasyIndex. It will be tough to win the overall if you haven't played the first four weeks, but there are weekly prizes, too.

Quarterbacks: Drew Brees and Philip Rivers. Brees is at home and due. Rivers faces a Jets team that can't be run on. Thank heavens I drafted him to back up Tom Brady on a couple of teams. If not Rivers, I guess that Peyton Manning guy is pretty good.

Running Backs: DeMarco Murray, obviously. Doesn't matter the matchup, but it's a good one against Houston. I believe I'll pair him with Rashad Jennings, at home against a soft Falcons defense, but somebody could still talk me out of that one.

Wide Receivers: Demaryius Thomas is one I think will have a big game coming out of his bye. Jordy Nelson should simply be too much for Minnesota to handle. And let's try Antonio Brown against the Jaguars. When I forget to get my lineup in before the Thursday game, I'll probably go with either Dez Bryant against Houston or A.J. Green against New England.

Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham of course. The other guy will either be Delanie Walker against Cleveland, Julius Thomas against Arizona, or Larry Donnell against the Falcons. I'm going to sleep on it, which is to say I'll decide when I'm actually doing my lineup. Walker seems promising, since he's more reliable than Tennessee's wideouts.

Kickers: Nick Novak and Ryan Succop. I just like saying "Succop." I will probably use Mason Crosby or Dan Bailey instead.

Good luck to all of you.
