Peter Owers put together a great draft board. You may remember he was the college student from West Palm Beach who placed 2nd in the wide receivers category a few days back. That’s out of 169 entries. Now Owers has won the all-important quarterbacks position.
Robert Griffin III ended up being the pivotal player at this position – not because he was good, but because he was lousy. Griffin was a top-10 type quarterback on the vast majority of board. Owers was one of only entries with the stones to not even list him at all, and it paid off nicely. Two of the other anti-RG3 guys also finished in the top 11.
A pair from California ranked 2nd and 3rd in this category. Scott Yannich is a project manager from Valencia, while Mike McCleary from Roseville is in insurance sales.

You might notice that my own name is on two entries. One is marked “official”, while the other is tagged “corrected”. I sent my picks out to everyone who entered right after the deadline (so they could see where I decided to differ from the regular magazine ratings, which are more conservative). A reader was checking over my list the next day and asked why I didn’t have Andrew Luck in my top 20. It was completely an oversight. In scrambling to put the thing together, I had simply forgotten to include him. So I put in a second, exhibition entry, with Luck in the correct spot.
The Luck snafu serves as a measure of how much is makes a difference when such an error is made. It cost my entry 2,595 points. (My flawed entry finished 137th; my corrected entry was up at 81st.)
The overall winner of this competition (including points from all six positions) wins a big trophy from the team at Affordable Trophies. The top 2 finishers win spots in the Experts Poll that will appear in the pages of the 2015 edition of Fantasy Football Index magazine, competing against 18 industry analysts.
Here’s the breakdown on all the entries for quarterbacks:
