Joseph Randle

Dallas' No. 2 tailback has potential -- but is a bonehead

Joseph Randle is an intriguing guy. He has some talent, and Dallas has the league's best offensive line right now. With that added dimension of DeMarco Murray historically struggling with injuries, a case can be made that Randle should maybe be one of the first 30 running backs drafted next summer. He'll probably start some games, and he'll be really good when he's out there.

Randle averaged 6.7 yards per carry last year. He didn't play much, but he consistently busted loose for longer runs when he got on the field.

But the off-field baggage with Randle keeps piling up.

In October, recall, Randle was arrested for shoplifting underwear and cologne from a shopping mall.

Now a report from KAKE.com in Kansas indicates Randle has been arrested again.

The report indicates police came to a Wichita hotel when there was a domestic violence complaint. A 22-year-old woman (the mother of Randle's son) said the two were arguing. Police found marijuana in the room and arrested Randle on a drug charge.

This isn't necessarily a big deal. Maybe Randle and this woman were just in a heated argument. Had there been any actual physical contact, that probably would have been noted in the police report. With the league growing less tolerant of domestic violence, this kind of issue could damage Randle in the future. Suspensions are quicker to kick in, nowadays, and teams are less inclined to invest in players who might create problems in the future.
