New England’s current run has been pretty impressive. Bill Belichick took the head coaching job there in 2000, and during his tenure the Patriots have won four Super Bowls – only three other teams have won two.
During his run, the Patriots have won over twice as many playoff games as all but four teams. Only eight teams have won a third as many postseason games as New England.
During this era of the salary cap, with teams constantly needing to be reloaded and rebuilt, it’s a run that we probably won’t see matched again in our lifetimes.
During these last 15 years, the Patriots have no only played in more playoff games than any other team, they also have the best winning percentage (over 72 percent). That’s remarkable.
Here are the postseason numbers for each team in this century. Numbers in parentheses indicate Super Bowl championships.
