How do y’all feel about wide receivers who catch a healthy chunk of touchdowns but aren’t that involved in the offense? Specifically, Martavis Bryant and Terrance Williams. They both caught 8 TDs last year, but neither one of them even caught 40 passes.
Can we trust this kind of receiver?
Back when I was getting into fantasy football, the Seahawks had the ultimate receiver of this class. Daryl Turner. In a three-year period, he caught only 87 passes, but 30 of them went for touchdowns. Over a three-year period, over a third of his catches went for scores. Seemed like whenever the Seahawks got to the 30-40 yard line, Dave Krieg would hit him for a TD strike down the sidelines.
But over the years, there haven’t been a lot of these kind of receivers who have been able to keep it going.
Since Turner, there have been 10 more receivers who’ve been able to catch 8 TDs while catching fewer than 40 passes. None of them in their next season caught more than 4 TDs.
