How good is Joe Flacco? Is he elite? Is he one of the top-10 quarterbacks in the league? The topic seems to come up every summer.
I don’t think he’s up in the very top tier, but I think he’s on the edge of the top-10 quarterbacks. That is, if I owned an NFL team and was picking my quarterback, he’d be about the 10th guy I’d choose, given what he’s done on the field.
For fantasy purposes, I think he’ll be helped along by Marc Trestman. That might help Flacco get in the top 10 statistically.
He’s been very clutch in the playoffs, with 10 wins (only two of them at home). It’s not easy win road playoff games, and he’s gone 7-5 on the road in the postseason.
If you were putting together a team to play in a playoff game, you would be hard-pressed not to make Flacco one of the first half-dozen quarterbacks you would select.
