The Patriots have released Fred Davis, so I think we can start considering whether Scott Chandler might be a top-20 tight end. He’s got some receiving ability, and New England likes using formations with double tight ends.
They’ve got Rob Gronkowski, of course, and he’s been pretty special, but there tends to be room for more than one tight end in this offense. In four of the last five years, the Patriots have had another fantasy-viable player at that position.
Aaron Hernandez was very productive before he turned crazy and starting killing people. And Tim Wright was a good red zone option last year.
Chandler has good enough hands that he could be a Wright-type player for them, maybe catching 30 passes and 5 TDs.
