There's a tendency to forget about Brandon Marshall. Teams keep actively getting rid of him. Quarterbacks like Jay Cutler don't seem to get along with him. And now he's playing for the Jets, where wide receivers go to have lousy seasons.
But Marshall, despite all the new addresses over the years, has had a pretty impressive career to this point. He's been a starter for the last nine seasons, and he's had at least 81 receptions in eight of those. He's gone over 100 catches five times. Three with Denver, two with Chicago.
Marshall is an older receiver now, but he just turned 31 -- three years younger than Andre Johnson and (nearly) Roddy White, five years younger than Steve Smith. Nowhere near time to put him out to pasture.
Last night Marshall played into the second quarter for the Jets, catching 4 passes for 62 yards, and also a 2-point conversion. Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to get him the ball.
All in all, Marshall seems like a player who should outperform where he'll be drafted in most leagues. He won't be a hot ticket on draft day, but another 80-90 catches for 1,000-plus yards? That should be well within his range this season.
