There's Marshawn Lynch atop the Seahawks depth chart, and maybe Beast Mode will just go on forever. But more likely they'll need to count on somebody else at some point, and the old and young combination behind him has changed and is changing in the last day.
Fred Jackson signs with Seattle, where he'll serve as the backup and occasional third-down back behind Lynch. It's an ironic pairing, since we can all remember Jackson being a large part of the reason Lynch never fully broke out in Buffalo -- and got shipped off to Seattle way back when.
Now the Seahawks have waived Robert Turbin, injured with a high ankle sprain. That's an indication of how valuable they consider Lynch's backup; not worth holding a roster spot for until he's healthy. And they like undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls enough that they're shopping Christine Michael, according to this report.
The upshoot of all this is that if you drafted Turbin as a handcuff to Lynch, dump him. If you're in a dynasty league, Rawls might suddenly become the proper long-term handcuff in Seattle, while Michael might suddenly become an intriguing prospect on another running-back needy team (say it with me: Dallas). And Jackson is your short-term handcuff for Lynch.
Picked up Rawls in dynasty this morning, because I'd like to have him if the report on Michael is accurate.
