Benny Cunningham

Your desperation running back starter of the week

Todd Gurley is out, and Tre Mason (hamstring) probably is. So if you're in a bind at running back and need a player very likely to get almost all the snaps, Benny Cunningham looks like your best bet.

Cunningham is expected to start for the Rams today. It's not a great matchup with Seattle, but Cunningham is a good pass catcher, so even if the Rams get behind or can't run on the Seahawks, Cunningham will be able to get some decent production catching passes and maybe rushing for a few yards.

He's a lot more appealing in a PPR format, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm choosing between him and Denard Robinson as a No. 2 in a standard league where I drafted LeVeon Bell, Latavius Murray and Todd Gurley. Somebody snagged DeAngelo Williams before I could.

So it's Cunningham, and you could do worse this week. With Mason not even practicing, who knows, maybe Cunningham starts in Week 2, as well. Isaiah Pead is next in line, but it's a mild surprise he even made the team. Once Gurley and Mason are healthy, Pead could get his walking papers.
