I'm in the top 50 -- 50th, actually -- in this Super League competition. Good enough to maybe contend for the title, not good enough to ever see my team in the top 25 report. Maybe this week.
Details were laid out here , so if you missed that column, check it out, and then come on back here.
The contest is totally free, and it's simple. Each week you pick the best 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs and 2 PKs (scoring system: 1 point for 10 run/rec or 20 passing yards, 6 points for run/rec TDs, 4 points for passing TDs, straight NFL points for kickers). You will be playing alongside Fantasy Index writers and subscribers, and there will be weekly prizes for the reader whose team posts the best score. Here's my Week 7 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck. The Titans have the league's top-ranked pass defense, evidence of the whole thing about lies, damned lies and statistics. Ryan, who's due to throw 3 TDs, should take care of that. Luck faces the Saints, and they're terrible. I don't know how, exactly, they held the Falcons in check; well, I do know, turnovers. That won't happen again.
Running Backs: Devonta Freeman and Todd Gurley. I'm going big on Falcons this week. Gurley at home against the Browns is as sure as curb-stompings get.
Wide Receivers: T.Y. Hilton, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr. Nothing too kooky here. Colts will light up the Saints. Hopkins is ripping NFL defenders a new pie hole. Beckham Jr., I think maybe he'll have a good game against Dallas.
Tight ends: Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen. Gronkowski faces the Jets, tough matchup, but whatever. Olsen is Carolina's lone good receiver against a vulnerable Eagles pass defense.
Kickers: Chandler Catanzaro and Josh Lambo. Going with no-names, home against the Ravens and Raiders. Baltimore has allowed the most kicking points in the league -- imagine if Josh Scobee had made one or two of his against them.
If this game required defenses, St. Louis is the easy top choice, home against Josh McCown. Buffalo (vs. Jax.) and Pittsburgh (vs. K.C.) are also on my radar.
Good luck to the rest of you.
