Will Fuller

2nd wideout drafted not a fantasy favorite

The Houston Texans made Will Fuller the 2nd wide receiver drafted, behind only Corey Coleman. They drafted him with Laquon Treadwell and Josh Doctson, who went with the next two picks, still on the board. Things are going much different in fantasy rookie drafts.

In my dynasty league, Fuller went after Coleman, Treadwell and Doctson. He also went after a pair of second-round picks, Sterling Shepard and Tyler Boyd. That might not be the case in every rookie draft, but various ADP searches and mocks indicate it's happening in a lot of them.

I know; what do we know? The Texans actually met Fuller, interviewed him, worked him out, and have way more access, football knowledge and experience than any of us fantasy writers. I've watched some college games and highlight reels and read a lot about Fuller. Big deal.

The book on Fuller is that he's got great speed (he ran a 4.32 40) and can take the top off the defense. In a perfect world he'll be a game-changing deep threat for the Texans right away, a great target for Brock Osweiler.

At the same time, he's got questionable hands, struggling with drops at times in college. He'll definitely be the No. 2 behind DeAndre Hopkins, and how great will Houston's passing offense really be anyway? In the second half of last season, when they were winning, Houston was a running and defense-oriented team.

Here's a report from yesterday's rookie minicamp. So far, so good for Fuller. Maybe he'll turn out to be one of the stars of this draft class after all. Even if fantasy owners aren't expecting it right now.
