I’ve posted average touchdown lengths for receivers and tight ends the last couple of days. Today I’ll present the same information for running backs.
I used the last four years for this group, and I’m listing only running backs with at least 15 touchdowns. Also, I’m using only rushing touchdowns – not receiving touchdowns or kick return touchdowns are reflected here.
Four veterans have scored their rushing touchdowns from an average of over 16 yards, and they’re all well-known veterans – Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy. Johnson and McCoy have been helped along by getting pulled in a lot of goal-line situations (1- and 2-yard touchdowns would have brought down their average).
The shortest touchdowns (rushing touchdowns) have been scored by Joique Bell, Stevan Ridley, Steven Jackson and Eddie Lacy.
