Question

Peyton Manning threw 49 touchdowns in a season for the Colts, and he put up 55 for the Broncos. Who is the only other player who holds the team record for TD passes (in a season) for two different teams? Player is in the Hall of Fame.

Answer

Sonny Jurgenson. He did it for Washington and Philadelphia.

I find it interesting that this record for these 2 teams is still held by someone who played before the passing rules were revamped in 1978. In Philly, it means that neither Messrs. Cunningham nor McNabb were able to surpass it. I also wonder what the records for each team are and how close Cousins might be to passing it either this year or in the future (if he ends up remaining with the Skins.)

In Philly the record is 32 TDs set by Sonny in 1961. McNabb and Cunningham had 31 and 30 for the Birds. In DC Sonny had 31 in 1967. And not only were the passing rules revamped but the schedule was expanded in 1978.
