Question

When the Panthers used a first-round pick on Jonathan Stewart, they already had a running back they had chosen in the first round (DeAngelo Williams). Stewart is still playing, and now Carolina has selected another back in the first round (Christian McCaffrey). Who was the last back who did what Stewart is doing -- drafted onto a team that had already picked a runner in the first round, and then staying with that team to play with yet another first-round back?

Answer

Reggie Bush, who was chosen by the Saints in 2006. New Orleans already had Deuce McAllister and later chose Mark Ingram. In two other instances this century, teams drafted running backs in the first round to play alongside other runners they had chosen in the first round. Bills did it with C.J. Spiller adding to Marshawn Lynch. Colts drafted Donald Brown when they already had Joseph Addai.
