Kansas City traded up to select Kareem Hunt in the third round of the draft, and there's a chance he beats out Spencer Ware for the starting job. Kansas City could use an upgrade, after its running game disappointed down the stretch last year. In terms of touchdowns, team running backs didn't do very much all season.
Last year the team scored 15 TDs on the ground, which is fine. But because of Alex Smith running in 5 TDs and Tyreek Hill taking in 3, the team's running backs accounted for just 5 rushing touchdowns. (The other 2 TDs came from a wide receiver and a defensive lineman.) That was the lowest total in the league, while the 10 TDs from non-running backs was the highest total.
Hunt scored 44 rushing TDs in his four seasons at Toledo. So maybe he helps get that number up there, or maybe he'll be a little disappointing as a scorer even if he wins the starting job.
