Browns sign veteran RB Hunt to one-year deal

The Cleveland Browns are bringing back a familiar face in the wake of running back NICK CHUBB’s season ending injury, signing veteran rusher KAREEM HUNT to a one-year deal on Tuesday.More The Browns also officially moved Chubb to injured reserve, ending his 2023 season. Hunt played with the Browns for the past four seasons, but Cleveland chose to let him walk in the offseason. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Tuesday that running back JEROME FORD will be the team’s featured back moving forward, but fantasy owners should expect Hunt to have a role as well. Less

Around the NFL: Browns running backs

The Browns are signing free agent running back Kareem Hunt, which will doubtless be worrying to those who are holding or in position to add Jerome Ford. But maybe there's a positive, in that it will allow people to add Ford a little cheaper.   more »

Browns exploring options following Chubb injury

Cleveland Browns running back NICK CHUBB will undergo surgery on his injured left knee and will be out for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season. Browns head coach Kevin StefanskiMore said the team will now feature backup running back JEROME FORD in the lead role. The Browns are also exploring other options, including KAREEM HUNT. Factoid: Nick Chubb

The Browns won’t have Nick Chubb again in 2023, but I don’t think that running game is going away. Great as Chubb is, a good portion of the success there can be attributed to the infrastructure around him – the offensive line, and the commitment to run the ball.   more »

Browns RB Chubb to be more involved in passing game?

Cleveland Browns running back NICK CHUBB is seeing more activity in Cleveland’s passing game during training camp and the preseason, with fantasy owners hoping that trend carries over into the regularMore season. Chubb’s previous single-season high in targets was 40 back in 2021. But with KAREEM HUNT now gone and youngster JEROME FORD still working his way back from injury, the Browns will likely need Chubb to do more this season. Thus far, Chubb is embracing the challenge while downplaying the added responsibility. Take note, fantasy owners. Less

Vikings exploring “potential fit” with free agent RB Hunt

Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell said that the Vikings recent visit with free agent running back KAREEM HUNT was about exploring “a potential fit” for the team’s backfield. O’Connell reiterated thatMore that ALEXANDER MATTISON remains the starting running back, adding that he has been having an outstanding camp. O’Connell also gave a vote of confidence for fellow running back TY CHANDLER as the backup. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Hunt left his visit late last week without a contract. Around the NFL: Kareem Hunt

Couple of Kareem Hunt stories making the rounds lately. The first was that a signing with New Orleans was imminent. The second was that he was talking with the Colts. Both of those teams may have a major need at running back (or there might be some agent shenanigans going on).   more »

Around the NFL: Jerome Ford

Story out that the Browns won't be re-signing Kareem Hunt (it doesn't appear anyone is interested at the moment). And they already let D'Ernest Johnson go in free agency. So Jerome Ford needs to be on the list of late-round running backs, in case Nick Chubb breaks down.   more »

Browns RB Hunt returns to team drills, team declines trade request

Cleveland Browns running back KAREEM HUNT returned to practice on Sunday after a brief “hold-in” and a request for a trade. Instead, Hunt is set to make a base salary of $1.35 million this year with roster bonuses that can push the total value of the deal to $3.4 million. Less

Around the NFL: Cleveland running backs

Last week's story noting that Deshaun Watson would be suspended for 6 games this season was, needless to say, optimistic. The league appealed, the appeal will be heard by a judge appointed by Roger Goodell, and it's a lot more likely the suspension winds up being 10-12 games, if not an entire season. Should be Jacoby Brissett starting a majority of games.   more »

Around the NFL: Kareem Hunt

I've got mixed feelings about Kareem Hunt. On the one hand, he's proved to be one of the game's most capable, productive running backs throughout his career. On the other hand, he seems content to spend that career as part of a committee.   more »
