There’s an error in this week’s edition of Fantasy Index Weekly. The numerical projections for the Los Angeles Rams wide receivers are fouled up. Not sure how I got it wrong, but a reader wrote in to point it out.
The text is fine, in which I outline why I’m ranking Sammy Watkins lower than usual. The Cardinals likely will put Patrick Peterson on him, and that’s a matchup Jared Goff will want to stay away from. So logically, the correct move is to rank Watkins lower than usual, while at the same time re-assigning some of his production to the other wide receivers. Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp should be busier than usual, and note that both of those guys have caught more passes than Watkins anyway.
Watkins had the big game at San Francisco on a Thursday a few weeks back, but otherwise he’s caught only 4 passes in his last four games combined, with no touchdowns.
So the text and logic was fine, but when I was adjusting the numbers in the database, somehow (not sure how) I lost track of what I was doing and moved Robert Woods down while INCREASING Watkins’ projected workload. I spaced out, apparently.
In a rough sense, Watkins and Woods need to be flipped in the rankings. The adjustment will be made in the supplement that goes out on Friday.
Apologies.
