The Seahawks have signed Brandon Marshall, just the latest example of them taking a shot on a veteran who may or may not have anything left. It's a low-risk flier on a guy who's certainly had a productive career, while flitting about from team to team.
Marshall is 34, and he got hurt early on with the Giants last year. But just before being lost for the season, he did have a couple of very productive games: 8 catches for 66 yards at Philadelphia, and 6 catches for 46 yards at Tampa Bay. He got injured the following week, so no way to tell if he'd be able to sustain that.
Over the last decade, Marshall been one of the league's most productive receivers. Eight times in the last 11 years, he's gone over 1,000 yards -- for four different teams, remarkably enough. He's also caught at least 100 passes in six of those seasons. In that same time span, no other receiver has more than five seasons with 100 catches; only two other players have more than four.
The list of 100-catch seasons over the past decade, grouped in order of most such seasons, is shown below. Marshall has 6 of the 50 -- 12 percent of them. Productive guy.
