NFL Injury Report

Saturday injury report

Carolina calls Greg Olsen questionable

The four Monday night teams have submitted their injury reports. Nothing too earth-shattering with any of them. But a Pro Bowl tight end is now a question mark.

For the Jets, they’re calling Jermaine Kearse doubtful. For those thinking of gambling on Quincy Enunwa or Terrelle Pryor (anyone?) this is good news. Enunwa and Pryor look locked in as the main wide receivers behind Robby Anderson.

For the Raiders, Marshawn Lynch and Keleche Osemele were limited all week in practice, but neither is banged up enough to even be listed on the injury report. They’re playing. I heard Jon Gruden jawing to Derek Carr on an NFL Films production last night. I believe Gruden has some interest at times in trying to pound people with the run, and he indicates Lynch and Doug Martin will be doing the ball-carrier. He spoke as if they were a one-two punch. For this game, the Rams are considered kind of unbeatable, but their defense – while really good --- actually allowed more rushing yards than all but four teams last year.

Raiders have declared DeAndre Washington out. If they fall way behind and start passing a bunch and going into hurry-up mode, Jalen Richard might surprising play more than either Lynch or Martin.

Lions and Rams both look pretty much healthy.

One additional injury addition from Saturday, and it’s a big one. The Panthers have added Greg Olsen to their injury report, calling him questionable with a back injury. That’s an eye-brow raiser because Olsen wasn’t mentioned at all as an injury possibility earlier in the week – now they’re saying there’s some chance he won’t play. Per NFL guidelines, when a player is “questionable” he has a 50 percent chance of playing.

Olsen is one of the top half-dozen tight ends in the league. He’s 33, but prior to breaking his foot last year was one of the most durable players in the league – going almost 10 years without missing a game. If he’s able to play, he’ll likely be out there.

Also note that the Panthers have a late kickoff on Sunday. They won’t announce their inactives until most of the other games have started (making it harder on fantasy leaguers gauging whether to use Olsen or a lesser tight end who’s more certain to play).
