It was fun while it lasted. But it looks like Geronimo Allison is pretty much down for the 2018 fantasy season. Mike McCarthy says Allison needs surgery to repair a core muscle injury, likely sidelining him until mid-to-late December.
Allison visited a specialist in Philadelphia, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and surgery would sideline him for four to six weeks. Allison might be placed on injured reserve.
For fantasy purposes, Allison can be dropped in typical leagues. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has done a decent job filling in for Allison for most of the last month and is now looking like a viable top-25 wide receiver for the second half of the season. He’s big, and he’s gotten downfield for receptions of at least 40 yards three games in a row. That’s rare.
The Packers selected three receivers with later-round picks in the draft, including J’Mon Moore and Equanimeous St. Brown. Valdes-Scantling looks like the best of the three.
