Question
Seattle has had three different players run for over 100 yards -- Chris Carson, Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny. What team, in 2013, was the only team in the last 30 years with four such players? Of the four, three are no longer in the league. One has played in eight games this season but currently is unemployed (a nice hint to help you along).
Answer
The Oakland Raiders, with Terrelle Pryor (recently dumped by Buffalo) helped along by a 93-yard touchdown run against the Steelers. They also got 100-yard games from Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reece. In the 2014-2017 seasons, this has been done twice, both in 2015. Seattle (with three different backs - Lynch, Rawls, C.Michael), and Kansas City (Charles, Ware and West). Since 1978, only one other team has had four 100-yard runners in a season, and they’re probably the all-time kings of the category. Kansas City finished 7-9 in 1978 (last in the AFC West) yet had five different 100-yard runners. I think most readers won’t remember any of them: MacArthur Lane, Ted McKnight, Mark Bailey, Tony Reed, Arnold Morgado.
