Question
Who was the first to be the head coach of two different franchises in Super Bowl games?
Answer
Don Shula. He was the head coach of the Baltimore Colts when they lost in Super Bowl III. After leaving for Miami in 1970, he helped the Dolphins reach the Super Bowl five times. They reached the game three straight years in the 1971-73 seasons, losing to Dallas, then beating Washington and Minnesota. Miami lost to Washington and San Francisco in Super Bowls in the ‘80s. Shula’s two teams – Colts and Dolphins – play today.
