Jack Doyle is out for the year. The Colts are placing him on injured reserve with a kidney injury. And I can’t help wondering if that might cause another top-15 tight end to show up in that offense.

Indianapolis uses multiple tight ends, and it features them heavily in the red zone. Eric Ebron leads the way, of course, with 11 touchdowns, but they’ve also thrown 7 other touchdowns to other tight ends. That’s more touchdowns to tight ends than all but three of the other teams in the league.

A pair of converted basketball players, Erik Swoope and Mo Alie-Cox, have both shown some potential. Swoope has caught 3 TDs. Alie-Cox more recently has caught 2 TDs, including one on a one-handed catch in Oakland that might go down as the best catch by any tight end this season.

Both missed the Miami game with injuries.

I don’t think either will catch a ton of balls, but I like the red zone potential.
