Question
Kansas City has been involved in the two longest games in league history. It lost 27-24 against Miami in a 1971 playoff game, and (as the Dallas Texans) won 20-17 in the AFL championship game against the Houston Oilers. Both games were decided in the second overtime. Johnny Robinson (who’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame on August 3) played in both of those games, intercepting 2 passes against the Oilers and suffering a career-ending injury against Miami. Who is the only other Hall of Fame player who participated in both of those games?
Answer
Len Dawson. Two other non-players were with the KC franchise for both of those games – owner Lamar Hunt and coach Hank Stram.
