Question
They’re enshrining players into Canton today, and it’s a good year for players with short names. Ty Law has only 5 letters in his name, fewer than anyone else who has ever been inducted. Ed Reed has only 6 letters. (Their legal names are Tajuan and Edward, but they went by Ty and Ed). Who was the last other Hall of Famer to be enshrined with a 6-letter name?
Answer
Ray Guy, the former Raiders punter enshrined in 2014. Ron Mix joined the HOF in 1979. Eight players with 7-letter names are in the Hall of Fame: Art Monk, Ron Yary, Tom Mack, Jack Ham, Sam Huff, Jim Otto, Len Ford and Mel Hein.
