Question
Gil Brandt on Saturday was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He spent 29 seasons as the VP of Player Personnel for the Cowboys (1960-1988). Setting aside owners, who is the only Hall of Famer (a coach) who spent more consecutive seasons with one franchise? The answer is not Don Shula (he spent 33 years as a head coach, but he spent his first seven years coaching the Colts -- so just 26 years with the Dolphins).
Answer
Curly Lambeau (coach of the Packers from 1919 to 1949)
George Halas coached with the Bears from 1920 to 1967, but never more than 10 years in a row (he didn’t coach in 1930-32, 1943-45, and 1956-57).
