Question

Cedric Benson on Saturday died in a motorcycle crash. He was a former first-round pick who came back to haunt the team that drafted him, running for 189 yards against the Bears in 2009 -- the ultimate payback game. Among active players, who are the only two who have run for 100-plus yards against the team that originally selected them in the draft? Both players played their college football in the same state, and both authored these 100-yard rushing games in the same state.

Answer

Lamar Miller and Alfred Morris. Morris played his college football at Florida Atlantic. After going over 1,000 yards three times for Washington, he ran for 127 yards against them in 2017 while filling in as a starter for Dallas during an Ezekiel Elliott suspension. Miller played his college football at Miami. After playing initially with the Dolphins, he ran for 133 yards against them last year for the Texans. (As with Morris, that came at home in a Thursday night game.) Others who have done this since 2000: Curtis Martin (3 times), Antowain Smith (twice), Ahman Green, Marshall Faulk, Marshawn Lynch, Michael Turner, Terry Allen, Travis Hendry, Warrick Dunn, Willis McGahee and Reuben Droughns.
