Question
The NFL began play in 1920. What are the only two existing teams that played against each other that season? Hint: be careful; the question wouldn’t be asked if the answer wasn’t a little bit interesting.
Answer
Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals. Bears-Packers tends to be regarded as the league’s oldest rivalry, but Green Bay didn’t enter the league until 1921. In 1920, the Decatur Staleys (now the Bears) and Chicago Cardinals (later St. Louis, Phoenix and Arizona Cardinals) played twice. The 1920s was not a great decade for fantasy football; the Cardinals scored fewer than 10 points in each of the first 18 games in this series.
