Question
What two teams played in the highest scoring game in league history?
Answer
Washington and the Giants. Washington won 72-41 in November, 1966, with the game featuring a combined 113 points. The Giants finished that season just 1-12-1, but their offense was at least exciting at times. The week after this game, they lost 49-40 at Cleveland, completing the unusual accomplishment scoring 40-plus points in back-to-back losses. Washington and New York will play again this week, but at MetLife. The 1966 game was played at District of Columbia Stadium (renamed RFK Stadium in 1969).
