Kansas City might play without Damien Williams on Monday night. He’s dealing with a personal situation, according to Andy Reid.
Williams is officially questionable on the team’s injury report. He hasn’t practiced at all the last two games, which would make me nervous about using him. In each of the last two games, Williams has been on the field for almost three quarters of the team’s offensive plays, but it seems to me that this could be a week where they pivot back to LeSean McCoy. I understand that McCoy wasn’t even active last week, but if we’re playing the guessing game of which KC running back will be the team leader this week, I think McCoy makes as much sense as any of the others.
Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson also could be involved. It will be some combination of those four, and I would be very nervous about assuming that Williams will be their main back.
Maybe some new information shakes free on this today or tomorrow. For now, Kansas City’s running back situation for Monday night is very much up in the air.
Also for this game, Kansas City has ruled out their second tight end, Blake Bell (ankle) and defensive ends Emmanuel Ogbah (pec) and Alex Okafor (ankle).
The Chargers have ruled out starting right tackle Sam Tevi (knee) and they’re calling Russell Okung (groin) questionable. Okung hasn’t practiced all week. The Chargers also lost their starting center, Mike Pouncey, for the season a few weeks back.
When Los Angeles played without both tackles last week in Oakland, it didn’t go well. Philip Rivers was under lots of pressure and put up a lot of wild passes. With Kansas City having a good pass rush, I would be nervous about counting on Rivers to have a good night passing.
These injuries can be seen at the team website of the Chargers.
