Question
The NFL’s passer rating system is derived from four different stat categories: completion percentage, average yards per attempt, touchdown percentage and interception percentage. Among players with at least 40 attempts, who is the Super Bowl’s all-time leader in two of those categories?
Answer
Terry Bradshaw. He averaged 11.1 yards per attempt in Super Bowl games (everyone else is under 10 yards). And Bradshaw threw touchdowns on 10.7% of his attempts; Joe Montana is the only other quarterback who (barely) reaches 9.0%. Troy Aikman (70.0%) is the all-time in completion percentage, with Montana (68.0%) close behind. Montana and Jim Plunkett are the only two (with 40-plus attempts) who never threw an interception in a Super Bowl. Aikman (1 in 80 attempts) is No. 3 on that list.
