Question

Philip Rivers is looking for a new team. He’s had a good career (he might end up in the Hall of Fame) but he’s also lost a lot of games – especially recently, with three seasons with at least 11 losses in the last five years. In NFL history, only three other quarterbacks have had three seasons with 11 losses (as starters). Name one of those three quarterbacks.

Answer

Archie Manning (1972, 1975, 1980), David Carr (2002, 2004, 2005), Jim Everett (1990, 1991, 1996). Two of Manning’s seasons came before the switch to the 16-game season. Besides Rivers, Carr is the only quarterback with three 11-loss seasons in a five-year period. Everett, Carr and Eli Manning are the only three quarterbacks with four seasons with double-digit losses.
