Question
For experts only. To correctly answer this one, you need to have a good sense of the position, and a good sense of the history of the game. In the Super Bowl era, what’s the only division that’s had only one season in which a tight end went over 1,000 receiving yards?
Answer
The NFC North. Joe Senser (who played his college football at West Chester) caught 79 passes for 1,004 yards for Minnesota in 1981. Mike Ditka had a 1,000-yard season for the Bears, but it came in 1961. There have been plenty of other notable tight ends in this division, including Steve Jordan, Bubba Franks and Mark Chmura, but none ever had a 1,000-yard season.
