Question

Who were the last two players to be selected twice in NFL drafts? Oddly, these guys both attended the University of Miami, and were on the team at the same time. One was drafted in 1988 and 1989; the other was drafted in 1991 and 1992.

Answer

Melvin Bratton and Craig Erickson. Bratton, a running back, injured his knee in the 1987 national championship game. He was selected in the 6th round by Miami, didn’t sign, than was selected in the 7th round the next year by Denver. If not for his knee injury, he probably would have been a first-round pick. Erickson also injured his knee prior to his initial draft. He was selected in the 5th round by the Eagles in 1991, and the 4th round by the Bucs a year later.

Two inconsequential players from 30 years ago. Thats not a trivia question, that's a footnote. Cmon man.

Not everyone considers Bratton and Erickson to be inconsequential. They were key figures on multiple U of Miami teams that were pretty awesome. Both were considered sure first-round picks until suffering major knee injuries. But I will agree that the degree of difficulty on this one is getting pretty high. With these guys being 30 years in the rearview mirror, probably best to close the book on these guys.

C'mon Gary! Wally Pipp, Don Larsen, Timmy Smith, Swen Nater, Mike Jones ... all inconsequential players from 30+ years ago who are answers to some of the most classic sports trivia questions ever. Easy to call them footnotes, too, but that's precisely what makes it trivia.
