Question

The Broncos and Jets play on Thursday night. What player was formerly the all-time leading scorer for both of these franchises?

Answer

Jim Turner. Turner kicked for the Jets from 1964 to 1970, including seasons with 145 and 129 points. He kicked three field goals in Super Bowl III against the Colts (including a 9-yarder – the uprights were on the goal line at that time). Turner scored 697 points for the Jets, which is now No. 3 in team history, behind Pat Leahy and Nick Folk.
Turner was with the Broncos for the 1971-79 seasons, playing for them in their Super Bowl XII loss against Dallas. He scored 742 points for them, which is No. 2 in team history behind Jason Elam.
