I had never heard about this. Dallas had the weird deal where it played a year before it drafted any players. (The franchise wasn't awarded until after the draft was held that year.) I was double-checking that and saw mention of the team name. I wonder if they ever mocked up any uniforms or helmet logo?

It was originally the Dallas Steers and then the Dallas Rangers before eventually settling on the Cowboys.

The AFL had a franchise in Dallas too, the Texans. They ended up moving Kansas City and were renamed the Chiefs......

Dwight, the NFL team only played that one year in Dallas, but the Chiefs (who began as the AFL Dallas Texans in 1960) played there three seasons (60-62) before moving to KC....
