Question

Marvin Jones has a chance this season to become the first player to catch touchdowns for three of the league’s cat teams. He’s played previously for the Bengals and Lions, and he signed with the Jaguars in the offseason (presumably, he’ll be looking to sign with the Carolina Panthers later in his career). In this vein, who’s the only player who’s thrown touchdown passes for three of the league’s bird teams? The player is one of only three sixth-round picks in NFL history who went on to start at least 100 games. He was effective on long passes. His most effective work came early in his career, when he spent six seasons not with a bird team but in the AFC Central.

Answer

Jeff Blake. Blake had seasons with 28 and 24 TD passes with the Bengals in the mid-‘90s. Near the end of his career, he spent a season each with the Ravens, Cardinals and Eagles. Blake finished his career with exactly 100 starts. Tom Brady and Matt Hasselbeck are the only two quarterbacks chosen in the sixth round with more career starts. (Stan Humphries and Mark Rypien finished just short of 100 starts, but both started Super Bowl games.)
