Gabriel Davis was the big receiving story in Buffalo's overtime playoff loss at Kansas City. Although the Bills came up short, Davis caught 8 passes for 201 yards and 4 touchdowns. Most everyone is going to have their eye on Davis in drafts next year after that performance.
All Davis needs, it seems, are more opportunities, and he should get them. Emmanuel Sanders turns 35 next month and may be retiring; unlikely he'd be back regardless. And Cole Beasley should also be gone; he tailed off in performance last season, catching the same number of passes as in 2020 (82) but for nearly 300 fewer yards. Seems very likely the top 2 next year will be Stefon Diggs, and Davis.
Even before his monster playoff game, Davis has been very impressive with his opportunities. Despite playing sparingly his first two years, the fourth-rounder caught 7 and 6 TDs in those seasons -- on just 35 receptions each year. Among all wideouts to catch 5-plus touchdowns in either of those seasons, that's one of the very best scoring rates in the league.
Table show all wideouts to catch at least 5 TDs in either of the last two years. It's sorted by the percentage of touchdowns to catch; Davis has two of the top 11 performances the last two years. Get him more opportunities -- say a rise up to 60-70 receptions -- and he could really be something special in lineups.
