Sunday morning injury updates

Metcalf expected to play

The Sunday morning injury updates are coming in, with an early surprise. DK Metcalf, who left last week's game with a knee injury described later as a patellar tendon injury, is expected to play for Seattle against the Giants.

Apparently, the injury was just a flesh wound. I do not personally believe that starting Metcalf is a good idea; looking at the PPR rankings from Friday, it shows where Metcalf slots "if active." But the fact that he's going to be active means that Marquise Goodwin can't be trusted as a No. 2 (he's ranked in the mid 60s), moving up above that only if Metcalf winds up inactive.

  • Davante Adams (illness) is expected to play for the Raiders. I would not be benching Adams, who should get the best meds and chicken soup this morning.

  • Dalton Schultz (knee) is expected to play for the Cowboys. I think there's risk in using him, given the repeated setbacks he's had with his knee, but it's a thin position. Looking at the PPR rankings from Friday, I'd slot him down around 15-16 at the position.

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown (concussion protocol) is expected to play for the Lions and can be used as usual as a top option at the position.

  • With trade rumors circulating, there is some concern with starting guys who might be dealt this week, like Brandin Cooks. I feel like if the terms of a trade were agreed to, he would have been traded, so for the moment it's just something that might happen Monday or Tuesday. And if you're Houston, maybe you don't want to risk him getting hurt, but maybe it would help his appeal if he went out and caught 6-7 passes. So if I were planning on using Cooks, I still would.

  • Logan Thomas (calf) is expected to play. I could see Washington using more of a committee there this week, and am not keen to use Thomas.

If I see anything else significant between now and 1 p.m. Eastern, I'll post in the comments below.
