Question

Baker Mayfield played well enough Thursday night that it’s likely he’ll start for the Rams in Week 15 – becoming just the fourth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to start for two different teams in less than a month. What quarterback pulled the quickest turnaround, starting for different teams just two weeks apart? Like Mayfield, he is a former Brown.

Answer

Bernie Kosar. In 1993, Kosar started in Week 10 for Cleveland, throwing 2 TDs in a 29-14 loss against Denver. They released him after that game, and Kosar immediately signed with Dallas (which was looking for somebody to fill in for injured Troy Aikman). Kosar came off the bench (replacing Jason Garrett) for Dallas in Week 11, completing 13 of 21 passes. In Week 12 – 14 days after his last Cleveland start – Kosar started for the Cowboys. Others who have started for two different teams less than a month apart: John Hadl (1974) and Josh Freeman (2013).
