It's a new year and a new Sunday, and the injury report are filtering in. Probably the most noteworthy involves Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson, who would look like a great option against Minnesota if healthy. But he's not.

Watson was questionable on the injury report (hip) after not practicing at all and getting in a limited practice on Friday. This morning he's being called a "true game-time decision," as opposed to a false game-time decision, I suppose. He's going to test out his injury in pregame warmups and see.

I'm not a doctor, but testing out a hip injury in pregame warmups doesn't seem like a promising situation. I take "true game-time decision" to mean the Packers aren't expecting him to play but are willing to drag it out until kickoff to keep the Vikings guessing. I would not use Watson even if he's active, and I won't be surprised if he's not. Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs and Randall Cobb; those should be the Packers top wide receivers today.

Other news and notes:

  • Tyler Lockett (finger) is expected to play. Ranked appropriately on Friday.
  • Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) and Hunter Henry (knee) are expected to play. Also ranked as such on Friday.

  • Chase Claypool (knee) is expected to play. He was ranked on Friday, but not high enough to make it onto the PDF. Knowing he's active and reasonably healthy, I'd put him around 75th in PPR.

  • Adam Schefter reports the Jaguars say they aren't resting players. They shouldn't, since they can be a wildcard if they win today and lose the AFC South next week, if a few other games go their way.

  • Jalen Hurts won't play for the Eagles. This is helpful for the small minority of people unaware that a "Doubtful" listing means a guy isn't going to play. Hurts will supposedly be available in Week 18. That could be important if the Eagles somehow lose to New Orleans today. But they probably won't.

  • Couple from yesterday: Hayden Hurst is fine to play for the Bengals tomorrow night. DeAndre Hopkins is out.

  • Trey Lance underwent a second ankle surgery recently. I mention this only because, well, the last time there was a good report of any kind involving Lance was when San Francisco traded up to draft him. Next September San Francisco's starting quarterback could reasonably be Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo, Brock Purdy, Tom Brady or someone else entirely.

  • The Raiders will shop Derek Carr after the season. Duh. Teams that I think might potentially be interested in having Carr as their starting quarterback next season: Panthers, Colts, Saints, Jets, Bucs, Titans, Commanders. Off the top of my head.

  • Ian Rapoport reports the Jets don't plan to shop Zach Wilson this offseason. In a related story, I don't plan to put my old sneakers up for sale on eBay.

If I see anything else of note before the early kickoffs, I'll post in the comments below.
