Chicago signs D’Onta Foreman, and I like the fit. That backfield is shaping up nicely.

The Bears lost David Montgomery, of course, and no doubt he’ll be running hard in Detroit’s two games against his former team. But Chicago has a cheaper and maybe better combo with Khalil Herbert and Foreman. (They’ve also got Travis Homer is maybe play on some third downs.)

Foreman suffered a career-threatening Achilles injury in 2018 with Houston, but he’s been able to battle his way back. He filled in effectively for Derrick Henry two years ago (in Tennessee’s playoff loss against Cincinnati, Foreman was better than Henry). And Foreman played lights out for Carolina last year.

After the Panthers traded Christian McCaffrey, their running game got better with Foreman thumping defenses.

Once that trade occurred, Foreman ran for 877 yards in the team’s final 11 games, more than everyone in the league short of Josh Jacobs and Henry.
