Lions optimistic on RB Montgomery, LT Decker for TNF

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said on Tuesday that he is “starting to feel pretty good about” running back DAVID MONTGOMERY and left tackle TAYLOR DECKER’s chances of playing inMore Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Decker sat out the past two games with a high ankle sprain, while Montgomery missed Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons with a thigh bruise. Lions RB Montgomery, WR St. Brown miss Wednesday practice

The Detroit Lions practiced on Wednesday without their leading rusher and top receiver. Running back DAVID MONTGOMERY did not practice because of a thigh bruise that knocked him out of lastMore week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, wide receiver AMON-RA ST. BROWN was out with a toe injury that was also suffered in last weekend’s game. Head coach Dan Campbell said St. Brown is day-to-day with the toe injury. Lions RB Montgomery could miss time with thigh bruise

Detroit Lions running back DAVID MONTGOMERY suffered a thigh bruise in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks and did not return to the game. Montgomery, the team’sMore leading rusher, said the injury could take “a couple weeks” to heal but he declined to comment further on the issue. Montgomery led the Lions with 67 yards rushing and scored his second touchdown in as many weeks before suffering the injury. The Detroit Lions signed top draft pick JAHMYR GIBBS to his four-year contract on Monday, just days before the team is scheduled to open training camp. Gibbs, the twelfth overall pickMore in April’s NFL Draft, is expected to play a significant role on offense this fall for a Lions team that finished fifth in the NFL in scoring last season. Lions GM calls rookie RB Gibbs a “special weapon”

Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes said recently that he believes the team will “be better offensively” after adding rookie running back JAHMYR GIBBS and free agent running back DAVID MONTGOMERY toMore lead the backfield this season. Holmes went on to discuss Gibbs and the dynamic playmaking ability of running backs like Marshall Faulk and Christian McCaffrey. While Holmes was clear to say that he was not putting Gibbs in the same category as Faulk and McCaffrey, he did say that Gibbs is “a special weapon”. Less
