Vikings' head coach Kevin O’Connell disclosed Monday that RB Cam Akers' Achilles injury sustained during the 4th quarter of Sunday's win over the Falcons, is season-ending. Akers was carted off the field, sparking concerns that his season was over.

Akers joined the Vikings in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams in September, a deal that included conditions in the 2026 NFL Draft. The trade's conditions hinged on Akers amassing over 500 scrimmage yards this season. He has 167 yards off 60 carries.

Regrettably, this is not uncharted territory for Akers; a similar injury sidelined him during the 2021 season after he tore his right Achilles during training camp.

The Vikings notched a dramatic 31-28 win over the Falcons, capped by a decisive performance from quarterback Joshua Dobbs, who was signed just last week.

It's unclear who will move into Akers spot as Alexander Mattison remains their no. 1 RB.
