The 33rd Team NFL writer Ari Meirov reported that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy received a $739,795 performance-based pay for his stellar 2023 season. That amount ranks 24th, with guard John Simpson receiving the highest amount ($974,613).

Purdy displayed excellence during his first full season as the Niners’ starting quarterback. In 16 games, he completed 69.4 percent of his throws for 4,280 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, earning him his first Pro Bowl selection.

The former Iowa State standout has been impressive since taking over quarterback duties from Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. During his rookie season, the last pick in the 2022 draft led San Francisco to a 5-0 regular season finish. He led the squad to the NFC Championship Game but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Purdy exited that game due to an injured elbow.

Last season, the 49ers played in Super Bowl 58 but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. It’s still a fantastic run, and he will return to the grind once organized offseason activity commences this month.

The amount Purdy received for his performance nearly doubled his $870,000 base salary last season. He has two years left in his four-year, $3.7 million contract and will earn a $985,000 pro-rated base salary in 2024.

However, he could be primed for a massive payday if he can sustain or improve his numbers from 2023. Purdy will be eligible for a contract extension after the 2024 season, and he can command a high price if the terrific start to his career continues.
