The Philadelphia Eagles will finally have an opponent in Brazil during their NFL regular season game on Friday, September 6, 2024. The National Football League revealed that the Eagles will face fellow NFC team Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo.
While both teams entered the playoffs last season, the Eagles continued their skid with a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. Conversely, the Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys on the road to reach the Divisional Round.

It’s a unique matchup because the NFL rarely schedules a Friday game in Week 1, and the last time it occurred was on September 18, 1970. It’s challenging for the NFL to schedule Friday games because the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 states that the league cannot have Friday or Saturday games from the second weekend of September until the second weekend of December, giving way to high school and college football games.
September 6 falls on the first weekend, which is beyond what the law mandates. That date also comes after 2024 Labor Day (September 2), when the NFL typically opens its season.
NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, will broadcast this game exclusively. It will be the third Peacock-exclusive NFL game after the 2023 regular season between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers and the January 2024 Wild Card game featuring the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Meanwhile, it’s also the first Eagles game after Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox retired.
