With Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen signing a five-year, $150 million contract extension, seven of the nine players assigned with the franchise tag this offseason have agreed to long-term deals.

Allen’s fellow linebacker, Brian Burns, signed a five-year, $141 million contract after the Carolina Panthers traded him to the New York Giants. That’s the same path L’Jarius Sneed experienced after getting traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Tennessee Titans before signing a four-year, $76.4 million contract.

Earlier in the offseason, 2023 Second Team All-Pro defensive tackle Justin Madubuike accepted a four-year, $98 million contract from the Baltimore Ravens. Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson got a four-year, $76 million deal from the Chicago Bears, while Michael Pittman received a three-year, $70 million contract from the Indianapolis Colts.

Before Allen received his multi-year extension, Kyle Dugger signed a four-year, $58 million contract with the New England Patriots.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. are the only tagged players who haven’t signed a long-term deal. Winfield earned a First Team All-Pro nod last season after getting 122 tackles, six forced fumbles, six sacks, and three interceptions in 17 games.

Meanwhile, Higgins finished an injury-laden 2023 season with 656 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Higgins’ franchise tag is worth $21.8 million, while Winfield’s value is $17.1 million.

As ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared, there’s optimism that Winfield and the Buccaneers will finalize a long-term deal this offseason. Meanwhile, Higgins has requested a trade.
